Narrative Writing

Teenagers vs Darkness

In class we have been doing fairytale narrative writing, we got to do our writing about a fairytail, myth or legend.
For my writing a decided to do about Harry Potter but changed it up abit to teenagers vs darkness.
What we had to do with the story we chose was in our own words change it up abit and make it our own story.

Here's the writing I have so far:

It was one stormy Friday night and 3 friends were looking for some fun having and decided to sneak around the school at 8:12 pm, there names were Zak, Krissi, and Acea, they didn't even know how dark it actually was until they saw they walked around and went into an unlocked room with Windows all around it.

That's when they soon realised how late it actually was, so they decided to go home but what they didn't know is that someone was watching them… Following them… Hunting them…

Problem:

They were all having a laugh and being silly teenagers hiding files, moving desks, all of that silly stuff but...
All of a sudden everyone froze of fear after hearing scratches on the window, footsteps in the halls, crying in different rooms.
Seeing shadows zoom past, whispers in there ears.
But not just that they felt a presence no one has ever felt before.

Came to be that the time had flown by and it was now 1:34 am, the noises went on and on for at least 10 minutes but every minute it got closer.. And closer…
At first they just thought it was the janitor so they hid underneath the teachers desk, krissi ended up running out of the classroom seeing if it really was the janitor.
But she cam flashing back in slamming the door and getting the most heaviest things she could lift and started blocking the door as much as she could.
The boys started getting worried and asked what was happening, krissi just exclaimed “ tell u after just block ever entrance and shut all windows and turn the lights off now!”

They got everything blocked and made sure no one and I mean no one could see through any hole any gap nothing.
“Krissi what's going on!” Acea whispered in fear.
“I...I…” Krissi stuttered.
“Krissi?” Karl questioned.
“I… I… Saw this. This.. Black creature” krissi said in fright.

The boys had no idea what to say, they were just speechless.
It wasn't even just speechless they were to confused with what to say cause they didn't know if it was real or not cause krissi loves to do pranks like this all the time.

“ are you sure that your not just seeing stuff?” Karl questioned.
“NO, I am %100 sure that it was real” krissi said as she started to cry.
As soon as krissi started crying that's as soon as the boys new that it wasn't a joke, they could just tell cause she wasn't saying anything just curled up

Blogging

Does Blogging Help My Learning?

Does blogging help my learning?

In my personal opinion I don't think that blogging helps my learning because...
I think that doing blogging just takes time off doing more work that we could do and takes off time of learning something new.
I mean don't get me wrong, I respect the people who do like blogging and think that it actually helps there learning.
But from my perspective I haven't really learnt much from blogging, maybe some other people have and that's there opinion and their learning.

Let's say that we were writing a blog about maths.
We may have to do a blog for a task in our math, but since we are waiting our time blogging we aren't going to learn much math are we?
Some people may find that there learning but they could be learning in there own way.

A couple of things that would be useful instead of blogging we could have a type of activity that involves like our own statement saying what we learnt from that activity or what we think we could improve on next time that's at least 2 sentences long.

What do you think? Does blogging help your learning?

Maths

Today in maths we did a partner activity, what we did was, each number on the dice had an certain amount of price that each number added up to, we had 52 weeks of pay with different pays each week from the amount we got from the dice.

A girl called Shelley got the option to either take $5 a week or have the chance rolling the dice.
If she took the $5 a week her total at the end of the year would be $260
From this experience in my personal opinion I think that the option best for Shelley to take the chance of rolling the dice.

here is the finished table.

Persuasive Writing

Cats vs Dogs

Today for writing we did persuasive writing on which we think is better "Cats or Dogs", I think this is a very interesting topic because to me cats and dogs are both my favorite.
But I came to my decision.

Here's my Persuasive writing.

I don't know about you but I think that dogs is an pretty amazing pet, because you can take them for walks, take a stroll and swim around at the beach, have play fights, have cuddles and many more things you can do that you can't exactly do with a cat. For e.g most of the things you can do with cats are ( Take them for walks, swim around with them, run around, take them to the park ) There are so many other things I could say but I prefer not to.

Let's take the example of taking your dog for a stroll on the beach.
Do you love just having a nice relaxing day on the beach but miss your cat or a different pet, but you just can't bring them cause there either, 1- scared of water 2- can't go to the beach or 3- hate car rides.
Well the most perfect pet for that is your dog, they are so much fun to play with at the beach, you can chuck around sticks in the water and let them chase it, you might even be able to have swimming races. It's easy for bringing a dog to the beach because, they LOVE car rides and having a cool fresh swim.

The reason why I know all this is because of personal experience, I have a dog at home that we take for rides and a swim at the beach and she loves it, she has so much fun, and your dog most probably to.

EOTC Week

Nga Te Moki

This week we have had a series of activities to choose from with 4 different subjects.
I chose to read about Nga Te Moki Marae because a couple years back I went to the Marae with my school. It was such an amazing experience.

Here is the work that I did.

1) Where did Cath Brown grow up? What roles did she hold?

-She grew up at taumutu and lived there most of her life.
-She held the position of Chair of Te Taumutu Rūnanga and Upoko.

2) What type of art did Cath make? How do you know she was successful at it?

-Ngati Tahu weaver.
-How we know she was definitely respectful because she was awarded the Sir kingi Ihaka!

3) Where is the marae located? What does the land around it look like?

-Taumutu on the quiet shores of Te waihora (lake ellesmere.

4) What does mahinga kai mean? What do you think they ate?

-Mahinga Kai means food source.
-Hangi

5) What is Ngāti Moki Marae built on?

-an old structure that stood on the same site.

6) What is the Awhitu House?

-a scene of many important gatherings. (Family gatherings, success gatherings and much more important stuff)
-it also was a gathering of success.

Narrative Writing

Harry Potter- Darkness vs teenagers

In class we have been doing some fairy tail narrative writing, we either got to do a fairytail legend or myth, I chose Harry Potter.
But there is a plot twist with our writing, we are taking the story's and changing it and making it into something of our own.

Here's what I have started writing so far:

It was one stormy night and 3 friends were just having look around the school there names were Zak, Krissi, and Acea, they didn't even know how dark it actually was until they saw they walked around and went into an unlocked room with Windows all around it.

That's when they soon realised how late it actually was, so they decided to go home but what they didn't know is that someone was watching them… Following them… Hunting them…

Business and Enterprise

His term we are doing business and Enterprise, this week we had a review on what business and enterprise actually is.
Miss Birtch gave us the topic of, if we had a class pet which pet would be suitable for us, (what pet could we get with only $150 for a pet in the class)
Me and my buddy Trisha chose a class fish.
The choices we got out of was ( Dog, Cat, Rabbit/Guinea Pig, Frog, Fish,Axoloti, Mouse/Rat, Turtle)
We have created a D.L.O on the costs and everything u need for a class fish.
Unfortunately due to technical difecultys I can not post the slide on my blog but the slide is on my buddy's Trishas blog.

The Mystery

She saw it coming from around the corner, something she had never seen before, it was almost like a creature.
She couldn't really see anything all she saw was a shadow of some sort with beedy White eyes that were as bright as a flashlight, and the teeth as sharp as a dragons scale. Before she could get a good eye on this.. Creature, it flashed before her eyes and appeared again across the road, like it wanted her to follow.
She wanted to find out who or what this thing was so she decided to follow.
About 22 minutes later of chasing and looking, she found her self in this abandoned mansion deep in the middle of the woods.
If your asking why it's abandon well she'll find that out very soon.
With in 30 seconds being in the mansion she heard a huge crash and bang down the dark long hall.
And she found her self in a situation no ones been in before the type of situation that she might not even make it out of here alive....

Reading!

ANZAC Jack

This week in my reading group we got split into two and got different books to read.
The book I got is called ANZAC Jack.
For this blogpost I am going to be saying what I found interesting about this story so far etc.

To be honest the most interesting part I found in this story is when I read that ANZAC Jack could have been in jail when he was younger, the reason why I found that interesting because they didn't actually tell us if he was there or not the boys that were talking to ANZAC Jack just kept thinking that, that was possible.
Something that I'm predicting that will happen during the rest of the book is.
The boys will find out that ANZAC Jack was actual in jail! The reason being is because in chapter one when the boys had thought he was in jail they asked, as soon as they asked ANZAC Jack act a bit suspicious, in my mind.
But have been wondering, was ANZAC Jack really an ANZAC?
To me the most enjoyable part is all the mystery if ANZAC Jack was really in jail...

Is all this possible well we will see when I've read all the book.

Writing

Respect!

Today me and the rest of 8Bh had to do a blog about something respectful they did today.
In class or out of class.

Something respectful I did today...

Was at morning tea me and my friends went to the cafe in our new building and had lunch.
By the time the bell went for period 3 I held the door open for them to walk through, and a couple more people.
But that's not this only thing, also in class I was a it stuck on something I was doing for my glossary.
I held my hand up being quite while waiting for miss Birtch to come over when she's ready. That's showing respect because I was not yelling out her name and I was just sitting there waiting quietly.

What about you can you do something respectful like those thing or can you be respectful by doing something else?

Explanation Writing!

Explanation Writing.

Kia Ora everyone, this post is all about my new piece of explanation Writing, The piece of explanation writing i did was on Anxiety.

What gave me the idea on writing about anxiety, is that ive experienced anxiety myself, so it gave me the idea to write about it.
because not everyone exactly knows what anxiety is, but this piece of writing will help you learn alot more or learn about anxiety.

Well enough of the introduction lets read the explanation.

What Is Anxiety?

Are you confused or asking yourself, do I have anxiety or what even is anxiety.
This explanation is all about, what triggers anxiety, signs of Anxiety, and what anxiety actually is. Do you wanna know more we'll keep reading and you will find out everything.

What Trigger Anxiety-
To trigger anxiety, you will just be sitting there or doing whatever you're doing and be thinking about something you are very worried about and you start to get more and more worried to the point where you can't stop thinking about it, and you start to have a huge panic attack.
Or you could even be thinking about something that has happened in the past that freaked you out and in that point you can also get a huge panic attack.

Signs you are going through Anxiety-
The most common sign of someone going through Anxiety is- Constant panic attacks
Going through anxiety you can even try to avoid all people ( Family, Friends )
With most people they are always stressed sad and more. So they are very (Emotional)
-You can also go through, headaches, always getting tension in the mussels and insomnia (Insomnia is when you struggle to sleep and when you wake up through the night it will take you a it to fall asleep again)
Also,
Pounding heart -when your worrying or something and your heart will start racing.
Sweating -you will start to get flushed and sweat.
Headaches -It won't just be a normal headache it will feel at least 3-2 times worst
Stomach upset -always randomly getting an upset stomach
Dizziness - random times when you start to feel dizzy
Frequent urination or diarrhea -needing to go to the toilet more then at least 6 times a day
Shortness of breath -you don't need to have asthma for this part, you could just again randomly get shortness of breath when your starting to worry
Muscle tension or twitches -some days you can wake up with very sore muscles or just through the day your muscles will start to get sore or have lots of twitching muscles.

How to calm down when your going through Anxiety-
When you start to worry the one first thing I did was say to myself I'm ok, I'm ok, and I just kept repeating that multiples times in my head.
If that didn't work for you try to get someone to talk to you about completely different subjects to keep your mind off what your worrying about.
If none of those work u can try to lay down relax, colour in or even draw.
Talk to someone about what your going through.
Even try breathing exercises, so when your feeling real stressed/worried, make a breathing exercise. A good one is to first try and get your breathing controlled again, then slowly start to breath in and out slowly. Start to do that up to 1-2 minutes or until you've got everything under control again.

What Anxiety actually is-
First things first anxiety is the most common mental health disorder.
But it's not just that it’s where you will worry a lot.
Anxiety can interfere with your daily life, because all your focusing on is what worries you, and most probably worry about when you start to panic again due to you thinking constantly about what worries you.
It's also a general term for several disorders that cause, fear, nervousness, worrying, and apprehension.
These can all effect on how you behave, and how you feel. All of this can also cause physical symptoms.
This usually affects young adults, and more women than men.
Anxiety is also known as chronic stress.

Overall anyone can get anxiety, it just all depends on your mind!

My Personal comments-

Something I did well: I think I did pretty well on explaining anxiety

Something I need to improve - I don't know.

What I learned from this assignment - that anxiety is the most common mental health disorder and it mostly affects women more than men.

Comment from my partner:
I love what you ahev done and how much info you have put in. you have done such a great job. Keep up the good work!

Tsunami

What is A Tsunami and how it Works!

Today I am sharing my piece of writing about What is a Tsunami and how it works.
Instead of sharing to much about my writing read it your self.
Enjoy.

TsUnAmI

Today I am going to explain to you how a Tsunami works and what it is.
The reason being is a Tsunami is Very common in some states, so it is good to be aware of a Tsunami and how u know if its about to occur.

First I will tell you what a Tsunami is.

A Tsunami is a huge Wave way bigger than a normal wave trust me there pretty huge.
It is disrupted and created by pressure under water by an earthquake or any other disturbance.

Now lets see how it works.

A first sign of a Tsunami is the tide going way back more than what it usually would, after that happening it could be anytime by then when the tectonic plates will crash together causing and earthquake and to cause water to rise then gravity will pull it back down causing the water to split. Half of that water would head to shore in full speed but as it goes it starts to slow down to allow it to what could get upto 100 ft tall, as its gotten as tall as it wants the water then will increase its speed and head straight to the shore.

If it gets big enough it could even reach all the way to the city. If that were to happen that would be real bad, not to scare you or anything but a Tsunami can kill up to 2430 people or even more.

Hope you learnt something new.
What do you think about my piece?

Logo Research

Logo Research!

In art we are researching on creative logos here's some i've found.

My favorite three is (Royal Palace because the design and shape just caught my eye, Women with Wings because I love how they wrote women but had a design in the name, like I had to look at it for 5 seconds to realize it spelt women, and Break free because in the circle its definitely representing break free when the top of the circle like breaks free and fly's away. )

Do u think these are creative? I sure do :)
