Narrative Writing

Teenagers vs Darkness

In class we have been doing fairytale narrative writing, we got to do our writing about a fairytail, myth or legend.
For my writing a decided to do about Harry Potter but changed it up abit to teenagers vs darkness.
What we had to do with the story we chose was in our own words change it up abit and make it our own story.

Here's the writing I have so far:

It was one stormy Friday night and 3 friends were looking for some fun having and decided to sneak around the school at 8:12 pm, there names were Zak, Krissi, and Acea, they didn't even know how dark it actually was until they saw they walked around and went into an unlocked room with Windows all around it.

That's when they soon realised how late it actually was, so they decided to go home but what they didn't know is that someone was watching them… Following them… Hunting them…

Problem:

They were all having a laugh and being silly teenagers hiding files, moving desks, all of that silly stuff but...
All of a sudden everyone froze of fear after hearing scratches on the window, footsteps in the halls, crying in different rooms.
Seeing shadows zoom past, whispers in there ears.
But not just that they felt a presence no one has ever felt before.

Came to be that the time had flown by and it was now 1:34 am, the noises went on and on for at least 10 minutes but every minute it got closer.. And closer…
At first they just thought it was the janitor so they hid underneath the teachers desk, krissi ended up running out of the classroom seeing if it really was the janitor.
But she cam flashing back in slamming the door and getting the most heaviest things she could lift and started blocking the door as much as she could.
The boys started getting worried and asked what was happening, krissi just exclaimed “ tell u after just block ever entrance and shut all windows and turn the lights off now!”

They got everything blocked and made sure no one and I mean no one could see through any hole any gap nothing.
“Krissi what's going on!” Acea whispered in fear.
“I...I…” Krissi stuttered.
“Krissi?” Karl questioned.
“I… I… Saw this. This.. Black creature” krissi said in fright.

The boys had no idea what to say, they were just speechless.
It wasn't even just speechless they were to confused with what to say cause they didn't know if it was real or not cause krissi loves to do pranks like this all the time.

“ are you sure that your not just seeing stuff?” Karl questioned.
“NO, I am %100 sure that it was real” krissi said as she started to cry.
As soon as krissi started crying that's as soon as the boys new that it wasn't a joke, they could just tell cause she wasn't saying anything just curled up

Blogging

Does Blogging Help My Learning?

Does blogging help my learning?

In my personal opinion I don't think that blogging helps my learning because...
I think that doing blogging just takes time off doing more work that we could do and takes off time of learning something new.
I mean don't get me wrong, I respect the people who do like blogging and think that it actually helps there learning.
But from my perspective I haven't really learnt much from blogging, maybe some other people have and that's there opinion and their learning.

Let's say that we were writing a blog about maths.
We may have to do a blog for a task in our math, but since we are waiting our time blogging we aren't going to learn much math are we?
Some people may find that there learning but they could be learning in there own way.

A couple of things that would be useful instead of blogging we could have a type of activity that involves like our own statement saying what we learnt from that activity or what we think we could improve on next time that's at least 2 sentences long.

What do you think? Does blogging help your learning?

Maths

Today in maths we did a partner activity, what we did was, each number on the dice had an certain amount of price that each number added up to, we had 52 weeks of pay with different pays each week from the amount we got from the dice.

A girl called Shelley got the option to either take $5 a week or have the chance rolling the dice.
If she took the $5 a week her total at the end of the year would be $260
From this experience in my personal opinion I think that the option best for Shelley to take the chance of rolling the dice.

here is the finished table.

Persuasive Writing

Cats vs Dogs

Today for writing we did persuasive writing on which we think is better "Cats or Dogs", I think this is a very interesting topic because to me cats and dogs are both my favorite.
But I came to my decision.

Here's my Persuasive writing.

I don't know about you but I think that dogs is an pretty amazing pet, because you can take them for walks, take a stroll and swim around at the beach, have play fights, have cuddles and many more things you can do that you can't exactly do with a cat. For e.g most of the things you can do with cats are ( Take them for walks, swim around with them, run around, take them to the park ) There are so many other things I could say but I prefer not to.

Let's take the example of taking your dog for a stroll on the beach.
Do you love just having a nice relaxing day on the beach but miss your cat or a different pet, but you just can't bring them cause there either, 1- scared of water 2- can't go to the beach or 3- hate car rides.
Well the most perfect pet for that is your dog, they are so much fun to play with at the beach, you can chuck around sticks in the water and let them chase it, you might even be able to have swimming races. It's easy for bringing a dog to the beach because, they LOVE car rides and having a cool fresh swim.

The reason why I know all this is because of personal experience, I have a dog at home that we take for rides and a swim at the beach and she loves it, she has so much fun, and your dog most probably to.

EOTC Week

Nga Te Moki

This week we have had a series of activities to choose from with 4 different subjects.
I chose to read about Nga Te Moki Marae because a couple years back I went to the Marae with my school. It was such an amazing experience.

Here is the work that I did.

1) Where did Cath Brown grow up? What roles did she hold?

-She grew up at taumutu and lived there most of her life.
-She held the position of Chair of Te Taumutu Rūnanga and Upoko.

2) What type of art did Cath make? How do you know she was successful at it?

-Ngati Tahu weaver.
-How we know she was definitely respectful because she was awarded the Sir kingi Ihaka!

3) Where is the marae located? What does the land around it look like?

-Taumutu on the quiet shores of Te waihora (lake ellesmere.

4) What does mahinga kai mean? What do you think they ate?

-Mahinga Kai means food source.
-Hangi

5) What is Ngāti Moki Marae built on?

-an old structure that stood on the same site.

6) What is the Awhitu House?

-a scene of many important gatherings. (Family gatherings, success gatherings and much more important stuff)
-it also was a gathering of success.
